26. The Right to Education. Education is a right. Primary school should be free.
Every person has the right to a free education through primary school. No child shall be turned away due to their gender, income or nationality. Before the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, children began to work as young as 4 or 5 and education was often a luxury that only the rich could afford. The signatories believed that education was the key to human potential and common understanding.
