25. Food and Shelter for All. We all have the right to a basic standard of life. Mothers and children, people who are old, unemployed or disabled, and all people have the right to be cared for.

Every person has the right to a standard of life adequate for the health and well being of themselves and their family.  The Universal Declaration of Human Rights acknowledged that children and mothers need special attention.  And, in a break with the past, children born in or out of wedlock deserved the same protection.  This standard was far ahead of its time when these rights were identified.

Those that bring these basics to people in need, groups like the UN Refugee Committee (UNHCR), International Rescue Committee and Team Rubicon, deserve our admiration and support.
