18. Freedom of Thought, Conscience and Religion. We all have the right to believe in what we want to believe, to have a religion, or to change it if we want.
Every person has the right to their own thoughts, their own beliefs, their own religion and their own conscience. In times of conflict it might be easy to repudiate these rights, particularly of conscience. Standing against the crowd for your beliefs is difficult and fraught with danger. But the Universal Declaration of Human Rights pledges that you have the right to worship and you choose and to honor your conscience.
