Why 1948?

Project 1948 was named in reference to the year the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was published. This influential document states that ALL human beings are inherently equal and entitled human rights.

Project 1948 embodies the promotion of peace, justice, and strong institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, by way of a two-part model: to provide the medium of photography and human rights to catalyze community policy-change through youth capacity building. Engagement with the arts propels young adults to become community leaders, effectuate change, and strengthen their institutional representation.

Project 1948 utilizes an innovative photo-voice approach to achieving sustainable development by empowering young adults to use their voice to hold institutions and governments accountable at the United Nations.
